MSDE setup errors - Act! 2005

My problem originates with trying to install Act! 2005.
This latest ver of Act! now requires MSDE 2000A. When the
program itself tries to install (along with MSDE in the
background), it hangs at the end, with Error 1603. Their
tech support suggested I try installing MSDE myself. That
install setup hung at the end, causing the error log
language below. Any suggestions on how to get MSDE to
follow thru on the setup?
I'm running WinXP Home. Full admin privs.
TempFolder is C:\DOCUME~1\Owner\LOCALS~1\Temp\{E09B48B5-

Q "SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS""
Setup failed to configure the server. Refer to the server
error logs and setup error logs for more information.
Action ended 18:12:05: InstallFinalize. Return value 3.
Hi Bill,
I'd suggest trying the verbose setup option and reading/posting the log file
produced.

|||I had problems installing MSDE too. You might want to make sure you
have file and printer sharing for MS networks turned on. It worked
for me after turning it on. I'm not sure why.

|||I, too, tried to install Act! 2005 tonight and was stopped by:
"Error: -1603 Fatal error during installation"
How do I make sure file and printer sharing are turned on. I'm on a
stand alone computer runing XP Home. Plenty of disk space.

add the
/L*v "c:\msdelog.txt"
parameter to your command line parameters call for setup.exe
