MSDE for Developers

I'm really new to MSDE so I just want to know...Is SQL Server 2000 a prerequisite for MSDE particularly for developers? If yes, then is it(SQL Server 2000) a prerequisite for clients?

The thing is, I can't find a tool where I can create databases after installing MSDE...the only way I can think of is also installing SQL Server 2000 and create the database from there...you do not need SQL Server to use MSDE

i use WinSQL (http://www.synametrics.com/SynametricsWebApp/WinSQL.jsp)

other people use Enterprise Manager or Query Analyser, which i am told you can get from microsoft by getting the 380meg download for SQL Server and then installing only the utilities, not the database -- but i haven't bothered with that, because WinSQL is really very good|||Originally posted by r937

If you really want to learn some thing extra ordinary then go for the SQL server installation , you can getteh real experience of the database net. For that you required ntfs partition , win 2000 server, or XP with utility tool, go with win aunti installation and use less option to work more widely.
If you have any information which useful please let me know.
