I am looking for an embeddable database and I am choosing between MS
Access and MSDE. Is encryption built in MSDE? Does MSDE encrypt
database files? What is the encryption algorithm and key size? How is
the password secured?

SoniaNo, there is no standard encryption with MSDE. However you can use 3rd part
tool such as www.xpcrypt.com
