MSDE Installation problem on NT 4.0 Error 32

Hi,
I am trying to install MSDE on an NT 4.0 sp6a box. I have applied the
Q258437i hotfix. I have never come accross this error before on other
MSDE installations and I can't find a similar case in the news groups.
I am stumped..
There is nothing overly special about this box except that it is
running the NT SMTP Service. I made sure that the "Server" service is
running. What else could it be? The user that I am logged on as has
local Administrative priviledges.
It starts installing and then about 1-2 minutes into it, the progress
bar starts going backwards and it terminates.
It gives error 32 (as you can see in the log portion below) which is a
sharing violation (I haven't seen anyone mention this error code when
installing MSDE). Any help on this would be much appreciated!
Richard

Hi Richard,

|||Richard,
I was having a similar kind of a problem with MSDE 2000 on Windows XP machine. I have created an installer for my application with MSDE merge modules. Could you tell me as to what exactly you did from the knowledge base article that had fixed you up.
Thanks,
Alagiri
