I dont quite see how that link helps him?
Nethertheless Matt your best bet is to do the following (you will then
have the most recent updated version (sp3a)
1. Download
Sql2kdesksp3.exe. From
> http://www.microsoft.com/sql/downloads/2000/sp3.asp
2. Run executable and extract to a directory
3. If you still have a previous copy installed, (backup if you want to
keep data) and uninstall
4. Within the msde folder you will see a sp3readme.htm file, open it
and refer to this part of it and follow the installation instructions.

=============|||Hi Matt,
Thank you for using MSDN Newsgroup! It's my pleasure to assist you with your issue.
First of all, I would like to thank Mark for his assistance on your issue. I believe the detailed
steps make you clear and easy to apply a reinstallation. I'd like to add more information here
to further simplify the installation.
As we known, we can customize many of the default installation parameters for Setup.exe and
then redistribute it for automated installation using shell scripts and other installation programs.
I recommend you configure the setup.ini file after you run executable and extract it to a
directory. You can edit the setup.ini in the extracted directory by adding the following settings,
and then run the setup.exe to perform an automated installation.
When you install a default instance, the recommended default settings are:
#Note: You can change the "sa_password" as you like
--
[Options]
TARGETDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql\Binn\"
DATADIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql\Data\"
SECURITYMODE=SQL
SAPWD="sa_password"
--
When you install a named instance, the recommended default settings are:
--
[Options]
TARGETDIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql$MyInstance\Binn\"
DATADIR="C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\Mssql$MyInstance\Data\"
INSTANCENAME="MyInstance"
SECURITYMODE = SQL
SAPWD="sa_password"

Matt, does that answer your question? Please feel free to let me know if this help solves your
problem. If there is anything more I can still assist you with, please feel free to post it in the
group.
Best regards,
